Kennametal KM-LOC 346093R01 is a clamping turret tool block (also called a turret-adapted clamping unit or static tool block) designed for CNC lathe/turret applications.

It is part of Kennametal’s KM (now standardized as ISO 26622) modular quick-change tooling system. The KM-LOC version uses a cam-actuated, preloaded disk-spring mechanism that provides consistent clamping force without a torque wrench. Locking/unlocking is done with a short rotation of a cam (approximately 140° for KM-LOC; similar but refined for KM-LOC II), giving positive stop-to-stop action and high repeatability. The system is rated for roughly 50,000 cycles under normal use.

Key characteristics of this type of block

• Purpose: Mounts directly to a machine turret (VDI, BMT/bolt-pattern, or machine-builder-specific interface) and accepts KM-shank cutting units (commonly KM32, KM40, KM50, or KM63). It enables rapid tool changes while maintaining high rigidity, axial/radial location accuracy, and face contact.
• Clamping principle: Disk springs generate the clamping force; a cam/lock-rod mechanism expands locking elements (typically balls) into the KM taper shank and pulls the tool against the gage face. This creates a rigid three-point (or equivalent) connection that resists cutting forces well.
• Mounting: Turret-adapted blocks are made for specific machine builders (examples in Kennametal literature include Mori Seiki/DMG Mori, Mazak, Okuma, Haas, Doosan, Hardinge, Nakamura-Tome, etc.). The number 346093R01 is consistent with an internal/drawing or machine-specific part number rather than a standard catalog designation such as a TACU… or KM…CL… style code.
• Typical features: Compact design for direct turret mounting; available in static (non-driven) configurations for turning, facing, boring, etc.; often supports through-coolant (commonly up to 100 bar / 1,500 psi); some versions allow external coolant or cartridge-style mounting so users can adapt them to custom blocks.
• Advantages over conventional tool blocks: Faster tool changes, better repeatability (often sub-0.0005 in / 0.013 mm range reported in field use), reduced setup time, higher rigidity, and the ability to keep tools preset offline.

Because the part was removed from a functional system, it is a used static clamping block that previously held KM quick-change tooling on a lathe turret. Exact size (KM40 is common in similar eBay/used listings with 80 mm × 60 mm bolt patterns), orientation (radial/axial, right/left hand), coolant provision, and exact machine interface cannot be confirmed without the physical marking or a drawing, as 346093R01 does not appear in current public Kennametal catalogs.
